Viscoelastic polymers like pressure sensitive adhesives are ubiquitous in everyday life. But which properties make such a highly disordered mixture of very large molecules so useful?
We will follow the temperature dependency of the free volume of a PSA, focus on the polydispersity and the dynamical inhomogeneity using dielectric spectroscopy and rheology. Associated with an introduced mechanical PSA model, the fundamental features of a PSA are elucidated.
